Your worth has never been attached to people and things.

A key source of unhappiness is self-betrayal. When we are not honest with ourselves, we pretend to be what we are not. We get into convincing mode, to persuade others to believe that we are happy, all is well and our relationship is in order.

We pretend that we are this happy content person after drinking alcohol or using drugs because we believe our source of happiness is found in things.

We dress up , show off our money and achievements , because we believe that happiness is what people see in us.

We show off what we have and our marriage in the hope that we can convince others that we have it all together.

When we go back home and are lying alone in bed, feeling lonely next to our "absent spouse" or alone with the make up now off, the realisation hits us, " I feel empty!" " I am unhappy!" " I do not know what to do with myself!"

Here is the thing.

You do not have to show anyone you have anything, or convince anyone that you are happy. You need to feel happy within by being honest with yourself about how you feel inside.

You only need to genuinely feel contentment and be honest with yourself. What other people see is their business. What other people think is up to them. What you know and believe deep down is what your quality life is about.

Rather than try to convince people your relationship is thriving , work on a thriving relationship. Fix your relationship inside-out. Start inner work.

Work on you first, then the romance. This way, you enjoy a genuinely strong connection.

Next, work on the relationship you are trying to make out is working well. Work on it rather than talk about it.

Even when it does not work, your focus is your self-relationship. You are not attaching your worth to a relationship.

Rather than try to show people what you have, work on inner achievement and peace of mind. You will not need to use money or material possessions as a source of validation.

Things and people are on loan. Life gives them to us. All you have is the love in you. That is something to show off.
