Benefits of a cathartic exercise during objective evaluation of triggers or SIFTSEM

During our distressed moments, we have a clumping up of energy that needs to be released.

The reason we might want to lash out at others or to do whatever we do, is due to the energy that is bursting to do something. We are doing humans, and being or stillness is not our default option.

When you sit down to evaluate your trigger, you practice stillness and calm the nervous system down with deep breathing.

Soothing with five love languages as well as five senses, which include reframes and solution focused rumination, are important steps to ground.

A cathartic shake will additionally soothe and ground you. It helps you with releasing endorphins and "shaking off" that feeling you have during your moment of distress.

Cathartic shake also connects you with your inner child, is childlike fun and shifts your mood.

Like any cathartic exercise, it helps you to release tension.

This exercise involves "jogging while sat down or lying down, mostly focusing movement on your upper body" You could also tremble to release your "trauma!"

This is also the closing exercise during SIFTSEM, although there are no restrictions to when you can do it.

It is also helpful to practice this exercise in the morning when you wake up to release the " sleepy" mode.

Cathartic shake is also helpful when you are triggered but do not have time to evaluate your trigger.

Or when you are going into a situation where you might be triggered or you are unsure of, and you need to ground.
