What does their package say?

Health conscious people tend to read the food package , to avoid consuming foods or calories they do not prefer.

Relationships are the same. Perhaps you meet someone you really like and feel that you can build forever after together.

What do you want in a person you meet? Hopefully, we all want to be peaceful and to meet someone who value their peace of mind.

That is only achievable if we take the time to get to know someone. To read the label. This is why you need to pace relationship and avoid rushing.

Before you make up your mind, read the package. What is inside might not be the same as what you saw on the outside.

How you feel about the outside might not be how they will make you feel on the inside.

Do not just focus on their looks, material or academic accomplishments. You are going to be living with the person inside, the feeling, thinking, behaving part of them

So, understand the essence of who they are.

Assess package for virtue.

What is their character?

How do they relate to the world at large?

To certain people?

How do they show up for themselves in times of crisis?

How do they handle stress and pressure?

Can they hold space?

Do they listen to you or to others when there is need to communicate with them?

Do they accept feedback?

What do they do when you do not agree?

Are they consistent and do they follow through?

Can they make decisions in their best interest?

Do they have harmful behaviours or habits that do not serve them?

Then there is a challenge with self-leadership no matter how successful in some areas.

It helps to recognise and understand the person you might be living with in 2 years time, 10 years or 20 or a lifetime. Consider whether you will be growing in this situation, or just surviving because you loved the way they looked, the car they drove or the money they made. Act on red flags early on.
