Trust, compassion and respect

If you meet someone, choose to stay with them only if you are going to treat them with compassion, respect and you will be able to trust them.

If you meet someone, stay with them only if they trust you, respect you and treat you with compassion.

The moment any of these three components is no longer available in the relationship, is the moment abuse begins.

When you have compassion for the person you are with, you will show empathy. You will welcome them, in the way they express their feelings by holding space. You have no reason to punish them for how they feel.

When you respect them, you will be open and honest. You will also respect their freedom and their choices. You do not try to force your perspective on them. Instead, you open up to brainstorming and sharing ideas, as well as expressing yourself without imposing your feelings. You allow them to choose what is best for them.

When you trust them, you allow this person to do what is best for them and for the relationship. To step into their role without you trying to make something happen. You trust their judgement and their decisions.

If compassion is lost, cruelty begins.

If respect and trust are lost a partner can become abusive.

If trust is lost, abusive enquiries might be initiated.
