The right time to use tools

Updated: Apr 19, 2022

At what point is it best for us to heal or to use tools you ask? At what point does a young child need parents, I ask? At two points of life! 1. When all is well and you feel like life is on your side. 2. When things are falling apart and you feel like life has abandoned us. Here is why 1. When all is well is the time to practice. The time to start a new skill, learn new tools and practice them. This is the opportunity to develop new habits. You practice self-care. Waking up to gratitude meditation, deep breathing, affirmations and selfhugs, cartharsis and setting an intention. Mindfulness, Segment intending Boundaries and Bedtime reflection You practice objective evaluation, SIFTSEM or similar; feeling your feelings in joyous situations or small triggers: naming your bodily sensations, mental images, feelings and observing your thoughts. You can learn to recognise why you are feeling and thinking this way, and then practice especially gratitude for what is working well, affirmations and decisions to get more of the positives, and soothe and parent the negatives.. You practice relationship skills with your immediate circle and greater good. You set up routines and rituals in your life and relationship to prevent crisis. When you do more of this practice, it becomes a way of life. It feels good, so you hold on to it. When you do not do self-care, you feel different and you feel as if something is missing. When you practice self-care consistently, your life changes and you begin to notice improved external environment, the more you feel good internally. 2. When you face a challenge This is the time you need mostly need to apply your learned tools. If you have not, this is the best time to learn. Only through managing yourself with tools can you improve your life , so take this opportunity to find support to heal. To learn tools. To start applying tools daily, in each situation and evaluate yourself. To learn acceptance and the dichotomy of control. Seek accountability and journal for self-accountability. Do not let yourself down as each moment and trigger passes. When you learn tools during a crisis, do not stop when things are better. You might develop the habit of needing chaos to rearrange your life each time. Which brings more of it. In conclusion, there is no better time to heal. The time is now. It is anytime. It is when you recognise you need healing. When you realise that you need to tap into your inner wisdom and parent yourself. SIFTSEM Journal is on Amazon
