It is what you do with negative emotions that makes a difference Evolution is only possible when you experience negative emotions. Negative emotions are there as an indicator of what you want and what you do not want. In experiencing negative emotions, you get an opportunity to decide what to do. You have the chance and urge to move towards the direction of that which you want. At the same time, you are in a position to take action that moves away from what you do not want, to create boundaries and minimise or prevent encounters. So, rather than sit with negative emotions and make them your dominant focus. Sit with the information they are giving you. Learn to manage your emotions, because if you do not have a question or problem from your emotions, you cannot create solutions. Where you are experiencing negative emotions in a relationship, this is not an invitation to react or engage in fights. Do not harbour any thoughts that do not feel good. Take a step back and breathe into the discomfort. Notice the sensations, the images, and pau attention to the thoughts. Your story is in the thoughts, so ask yourself why you feel this negative emotion. As a human , you have a need to be understood. Parent yourself, to soothe and ground, just like you do for a child. Create solutions. What do you not want, and what do you want? Peacefulness? What is in your best interest? What can you do going forward? Self-care. Quiet your mind and find things that feel good. How can you do it? Make a plan. Who do you need to support you? Accountability and journaling. How do you know you are on the path? How you feel, feedback and self evaluation.
