Healing the inner child helps you to develop emotional intelligence. Through exploring inner child work, you develop awareness of the root cause of your behaviours and patterns.
To manage, minimise, and eliminate your self-sabotage behaviours and patterns involves use of tools.
Tools replace or help you to reframe your thought patterns, your mindset and also your programmed behaviours.
Tools are new sets of approaches that you develop over time as you work on yourself. They become habitual, so that you utilise them in times of triggers or life questions rather than jump into action without reflection.
The tools fall under self-care which is the ultimate to do list for self-love.
One such tool is journaling your trigger evaluation or objective evaluation of life questions.
The SIFTSEM tool was developed for triggers, life questions and any situation you encounter, to allow deliberate, intentional and consciously interventions.
To help you at the start of your journey, you have the guided SIFTSEM Journal. This toolkit helps you to understand SIFTSEM without guidance.
It is important to practice and complete all steps included in the journal. Do not try to exclude a step because each one of them has a function to allow your healing to take shape.

Reframes : Role Reversal (with the triggering party or if the issue does not include anyone else, involve a friend or loving parent) and thought replacement are key for cognitive restructuring.
Intermediate and long term solutions are required to help you move forward with an idea of what to do when a similar or same trigger occurs.

Scoring yourself post evaluation helps you to measure effectiveness of your exercise.

You can also bring up some unresolved past issues as well as your happy triggers to practice feeling your feelings.
