Be aware of your every step
Behind every behaviour, every decision or choice you make is emotion, sensation and thoughts. The reason why you do not recognise this is because you spring into action without a conscious decision to do so.
The spontaneous action you take comes from habitual patterns which have become natural to you. That is why even unhealthy habits look harmless and you might argue for your limitations. " That is who I am!"
In order to enjoy a peaceful and successful life, here is what might propel you towards new habits. We are not talking money, but satisfaction that comes with peacefulness more like.
Use your emotions to create decisions in your best interest.
Understand how you feel when you take certain action, in order to recognise the emotional currents behind your behaviour.
Additionally, understand the thoughts that come with your situation. That voice that tells you what is or is not right and propels you to action.
There are other factors that accompany each situation. These are called pre-triggers. Trauma or not.
Unhealed or aware, we all have conditions or factors which might worsen the impact of a trigger in each moment.
Maybe you are hungry, stressed , tired after work or you are unwell. These factors worsen the impact of your trigger.
As you take time to understand how you feel, what you think and why you act in certain situations, you can learn to shift sensations and detach rather than take unconscious or reactive action in those situations.
Equally , where you are also doing something that is beneficial, the change you might need to make is to take that action consciously. Rather than take it without awareness.
As long as behaviour is an unconscious hit and miss, it can be a challenge to know where you stand with yourself. Everything seems like coincidence and you believe in luck or being unlucky. Yet, when you observe how you are showing up, you can also recognise where you might need to make adjustments early on. Or where you are deliberately acting in your best interests.
Or where you need to learn from your situation. Nothing is luck. All is choice. But make sure, your choices are made by you, not for you.
Evaluate yourself daily and repeat tomorrow. Just like hunger, your psychological wellbeing needs nourishing, needs attention, needs consciousness. Unconscious eating can harm your body. Be aware of what comes in and out of your body. Be aware of what you do with your body. And mind. Take charge.
