10 ways to enjoy your relationships


Many people spend their time in relationships miserable because they're not intentional. They end up focusing on trying problems, trying to fix a partner or worrying too much about the future.


Here are 10 ways to improve your relationships so that they are more enjoyable. This in turn makes life more fun.



1. Bring your own happy


Whether you're looking for a relationship or you're in one, learn to invest I'm yourself so that you discover what makes you happy or content. Something that's not outside you. You cannot be happy with someone else without being happy with yourself.


2. Strengthen your self-relationship.


To enjoy your life and therefore relationships, Strengthen your self-connection. Having a sense of self is essential to live in your worth and not attach to an outcome.



3. Understand the emotional currents of your relationship


To improve your relationship, assess the emotional dynamics, moods, and conflict resolution approaches between you and your partner. This helps you approach situations intentionally.


4. Love yourself


Prioritise yourself and act in your best interest. This helps you to maintain loving boundaries to safeguard yourself and protect everyone in the relationship.


Self-compassion will allow you to self-regulate as well as forgive yourself when you make mistakes.


5. Be aware of your moods daily


Being Intentional about your mood can help you apply self-care and self-parenting techniques to improve your emotional baseline and avoid preventable reactions. You get to choose what interactions to engage in and to avoid depending on your mood.


6. Live in the moment


Most relationships suffer because of this much what didn't happen, what happened and what will happen.


As much as you need to address issues, recognise you've no other time apart from now. Enjoy the time you spend with your partner and notice what's going on right now.


7. Dichotomy of Control


Your best life is lived when you appreciate and focus on what's in your control. Unhappy relationships are a result of focusing on and fixating on what's outside your control.


This also helps you make peace with rejection when your partner says no, or a relationship ends. You accept what happens and appreciate that people have the right to their own choices and decisions. Trust people to know and do what's best for them even if their best isn't you.

9. Learn relationship skills


Relationships are not just enthusiasm, they require skills. To be good at something, learn, practice, repeat.


Healthy relationships are based on teamwork, collaboration, support and conflict resolution. There's no enjoying relationships without the ability to relate with another person in a healthy way.



10. Be aware of your motivations


There's a reason you behave as you do. In each moment, try to understand your behaviour and the underlying emotions.


Practice objective evaluation of triggers or your situation when you have important issues to discuss or react in your relationship. This helps you gain clarity on your motivations and how best to proceed without damaging your relationship.
